La-La-Shou Special Education Center
Introduction:
Founded in January 2002, La-La-Shou Special Education Centre faces to people with mental diseases (including autism spectrum disorder, mental retardation, cerebral palsy) and their family. Our center is a non-governmental non-profit organization devoting to early intervention, school age training, pre-employment training, parent support and social advocation. We registered as a non-governmental organization in Beilin District Xi’an City officially in 2006. Our main goals are giving rehabilitation education support to the children with mental diseases and their families; sharing experiences and communicating with the other related organizations, and advocating public agreement and support. Our founder Tao Zhang has been chosen as “model worker in Xi’an City”, “annual personnel in education in Xi’an City” etc. Our center has awarded as “Civilization Unit”, “honest school”, “excellent voluntary service group in Xi’an City” and some other titles of honor. All the honors encourage us to seek farther and develop better.
After Eight-Year development, we has sought out an “La-La-Shou” special training model and family support system which suit the special environment in Shanxi Province. Our center has become a professional brand banner in the field of Xi’an special education. Now we have fixed location and scale. Our center located at No. 23 Guazhonghe Lane Dongguanji City Xi’an City, and is about 600 square meters in size. Nowadays, we have 279 families as our members. We have served more than 1000 people with autism and mental retardation. Our center has employed 20 teachers who have professional training and related work experiences and 11 full or part time workers. At the same time, we cooperate with more than 20 companies, universities, internet volunteer groups to advocate voluntary spirit. Every year, about 2000 people accept voluntary training and begin voluntary service in our center.
Our Vision: Every people with autism or mental retardation can join in our society and live happily.
Our Mission: “La-La-Shou” believes the full people development idea. We will supply various aspects of services to autism or mental retardation patients and their families and promote family and social agreement and support.
Our Services:
Special education to children: We supply services such as early intervention, school age education, rehabilitation training to 3 to 16 year patients with autism, mental retardation or cerebral palsy. Our center chooses developmental courses and uses the form of group training to help the students to study from interacting with the environment by rich activity design. We hope all the students can study happily, healthily and confidently to improve their social adapt ability.
Special education to parents: We supply family consult parent class, and also open parent-child activity, parents mutual help group, heart growing up class to parents. We help the parents with special children to study the methods and experiences of children care, ease the mental stress and face the special children actively. We hope our parents services can make them from beneficiaries to volunteers, donors, advocates and movers.
Vocation promotion: From Shanxi Province to all the northwestern area, we try to help parents to share experiences and communicate with experts and professional organizations and promote our vocation to develop more professionally.
Social advocate: We will advocate together with our government, companies and universities to improve agreement in community and social harmony and progress.
Special children and their families have different requirements in different life stages. We hope we can offer services in time to meet the need of most of the parents; avoid secondary emotional and behavioral barrier and improve their ability of daily life. In addition to improving current service quality, “La-La-Shou” dedicates to developing new services. We hope some kind of organizations can help these children to live safe and happily in their rest time of life. We dedicate to exploring new methods to solve the problem now.
Lives are equal and desire respects, even with disabilities. Our children and their parents need more attention and care. We must try our best to promote our society to understand and accept special group; help them to involve in our social life and build a happy and harmonious world.
