Tongyin Mental Health Training Center
Introduction:
Tongyin Mental Health Training Center was in Donggang, Liaoning province. It was founded in November, 2000. It was approved by the Department of Education and registered at the Bureau of Civil Affairs in Donggang as a private non-profit organization. The school mission of the center is to make the children live happily. So far, it has successfully trained almost a thousand children, with sensory integration dysfunction, and accepted to train more than 100 children with autism in Donggang and its surrounding areas. Now, some children have entered kindergartens, and some have entered the ordinary primary school. More than 95% of children, with no language skills before training, have learnt to speak after a period of training. The rehabilitation statuses of most children have been significantly improved. Thus, the center has been highly appreciated by the community.
Service Objects: Children with autism and related developmental disorders, language development retardation, learning disabilities, or sensory integration disorder.
Service Forms: Provide "behavior training"(ABA)-based individualized education programs, pre-school training and guiding, and self-care training for autistic children under 13. The programs are in two forms: half-day classes and all-day classes.
School Location, Size, Teacher Resources and Facilities: The center is located on Floor Four of Building 43, Donggang Road, Donggang. It covers 200 square meters. Indoor, it has sensory integration rooms, individual training rooms, computer rooms, multi-functional rooms. It provides courses of language, cognitive, fine, mathematics, computer, rhythm, sports, sensory system, auditory systems, scenarios, games, music, and self-care and so on. The centre is equipped with six full-time teachers, all of whom are graduated from normal universities in related majors.
