Hoping for longer association-Hilton Beijing Capital Airport Hotel Manager David Princ’s speech on the opening of Project Ocean Heaven

 

Thank you very much. First I would like to say it’s a great pleasure to invite all of you to our hotel. What I think it would be a great event and the start of great partnership with Stars and Rain, the association we work with short period of time and I look forward to much longer association.

 

As a manager of the hotel, I think it is much more important that we are not just business. For me it’s really important for the hotel to play a part in the local community. And clearly part of that has to be making some kind of contribution and providing some sort of support for people who needed far more than we do. And I must be honest that my team and I have thought quite a long time to choose a suitable charity or suitable organization for us to support. And we identify many who have a lot of support and know a lot of people; actually they find a lot of funding from different people. I actually want to find something didn’t have much support as it deserved. I have to say I was very happy when one of my team found Stars and Rain, because I think it is a fabulous organization. It really does deserve a lot of support from a lot of people.

 

I think sometimes people look for charities and support charities and they really just think to give them money. I must be honest that’s not something really we have done. What we trying to do is supporting to them to provide facilities and bringing their children to experience the hotel, exploring the possibilities actually offering them some jobs within the hotel, that they are able doing; giving them opportunities to live a normal life in society. And many people think they give something to charity is very much a one-way thing, it’s about giving something to them and you getting nothing for return. And I just want to make very clear point, if you think that way, you are so, so wrong.

 

I have a small group within the hotel that look after this relationship. I’m very proud to say, and they are all standing in the back of the room. And I’ve like to give you a great reward from me for what you have done. At certain times they are actually with many members to go to visit the school and go to play with the children who are members of the school. I see a huge number of photographs, hundreds of photographs when they have been there. And what is very, very obvious is two things, one, the children are having a great time, they are laughing, smiling and they are enjoying it. Two, these guys are having a great time too. They are laughing, enjoying it and they are happy. For me this is much what people could give to us and what we could give to them.

 

So I was asked to take 5 minutes, so I apologize I probably have taken 8. Let me just finish by saying, I really wish Stars and Rain the best of luck, the best success going forward. And I’m sure this new honor ship is going to prove you really successful and beneficial to you, and I really do wish you all the best.
